Country: USA
Contents: Chicken noodle soup, apple slices, herbed baby carrots, and a garden salad.

Notes: I would probably leave the lunchroom a little hungry, but I'm an adult. This is certainly much healthier than many of the other USA lunches previously posted.
What's For School Lunch?
Various school lunches from around the world. School lunch doesn't really represent the best a country has to offer, but we still love it, because we grew up on it.

What are your thoughts on the new regulations? What have your children said? I work with kids and a lot of them have reported being very hungry.

USA School Lunch - Chili
Country: USA (Summer Day Camp)
Contents: Chilli, three bean salad, corn, V-8 Fusion 100% juice and sour cream

Notes: Mmm, chili. For some reason my wife won't let us have chili in the summer, she says it is a winter food. Nope, it's delicious year round. Also, I just got those V-8 Fusions, and they have a full serving of fruit and a full serving of veggies per can.

USA School Lunch - Egg Salad Sandwich
Country: USA (New York)
Contents: Sliced egg sandwiches with cheese, cucumber and mustard, Reese's Peanut Butter Cup and mini vanilla yogurt (not pictured)
Source: Rachel
Notes: "I'm a graduate student in Parsons NYC; to save money, I tend to pack lunches for myself. I like to make quick lunches that can be all packed into one box, and each lunch costs me around $1.25~$2.00 (since I buy ingredients seasonally, and buy bulk and at cheaper places). I hope more college students realize that living cheaply doesn't mean eating badly/Ramen all the time; it's very easy to do both and if you cook weekly and portion it out you don't need to keep making things everyday."

USA School Lunch - Rice Ball
Country: USA (Central Florida High School)
Contents: See notes below
Source: Elizabeth E.
Notes: "This is actually a picture from a year ago that I took because it was legitimately one of the worst things I had ever been served. I'm not sure what it was supposed to be, but it ended up as a ball of rice packed so absurdly tight that no grains were discernible and the sauce (which was awful and sweet) couldn't get through. The main entree also had mushrooms and some sort of chicken product on it. It was served with celery and carrots with low-fat ranch dressing and apple juice from concentrate."

Someone from the UN World Food Program sent me the story of a 13-year-old Kenyan girl named Molly, who has video’d her life and, in particular, her school meals.
The material that Molly filmed is particularly appealing and important because it enables her to speak for herself about why school meals are important to her and her friends. The UN World Food Program set up a YouTube channel for Molly.
And she has recently been featured on CNN.
Also the above photo was taken by Rein Skullerud, who visited her and produced a kind of “Day in the Life” photo gallery. You can see the photo gallery here.
Please check out her story and let me know what you think.
